MONACO (AFP) - Monaco's alarming winless run continued on Monday as Rennes scored a goal in injury-time to record a 2-1 win here and inflict the fourth successive defeat on the 2004 Champions League finalists.

The defeat leaves Monaco without a win since January 23rd and just three points above the relegation zone with most clubs having just seven matches left to play.

Rennes' veteran striker Mikael Pagis was at the heart of the victory forcing former Italy international 'keeper Flavio Roma into turning his shot round for a corner in the 19th minute.

From the resulting corner by Jerome Leroy, Petter Hansson rose to head home after Roma had made a complete mess of coming out to punch the ball clear.

However, Monaco rebounded from going behind to go in level at the break as Massamba Sambou headed home Nene's freekick in the 37th minute.

Rennes, though, were to have the last laugh and surge into fifth place giving them a chance of European club football next season as Pagis played a brilliant one-two with former France international striker Sylvain Wiltord and slotted past Roma.
