HULL, England (AFP) - Premier League newboys Hull City completed a triple swoop for Plymouth winger Peter Halmosi, Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng and Fulham goalkeeper Tony Warner on Wednesday.
In a frenzied day of transfer activity at the KC Stadium, Hungary international Halmosi agreed a four-year deal to seal his move for an undisclosed club record fee, believed to be just less than two million pounds (2.5 million euros). That was only the start for Tigers boss Phil Brown as Boateng arrived from Middlesbrough for one million pounds (1.2 million euros) on a two-year contract. Completing the trio of new arrivals, former Liverpool stopper Warner joined on a free transfer and put pen to paper on a two-year deal. "The Tigers have today completed the signings of Peter Halmosi, George Boateng and Tony Warner," a statement on the club's website read. "The trio all put pen-to-paper this morning to become part of Phil Brown's squad ahead of the club's first-ever campaign in the top-flight of English football." Brown added: "This is a fantastic day for Hull and a lot of hard work has gone into getting the three lads here. "We've broken our transfer record to sign Peter Halmosi. George Boateng is a Dutch international who has had more than ten years at Premier League level and that's the kind of player I've been looking for to bolster our existing squad. "And last but not least, we've also brought Tony Warner in and he arrives to give us a bank of three keepers who can all play at Premier League level which is great for us. They're now in a race for that number one spot and from my point of view, let the race begin!" |

Looks like Hull are trying really hard not to become Derby this year...Crusader1987 July 16th, 2008 17:30
As long as Fulham stays up, I'm happy.indsc4 July 16th, 2008 17:43
Unfortunately, Fulham's American influence has dropped from 5 to 3 players. Still that's the most in the EPL. I'm with you, Crusader.chakal July 16th, 2008 18:00
ever since tim howard's move to EPL, american impact has been minimum :(indsc4 July 16th, 2008 18:05
Luckily Brad Guzan recently signed with Aston Villa. Hopefully more Americans will follow him to the EPL.chakal July 16th, 2008 18:51
but then we lose good players here, Landon wanted to go a few years ago, i think he made a great desition by staying here. who knows. we need some kind of borrowing agreement with united and liverpool.indsc4 July 16th, 2008 21:53
Yes, that is a problem...a quickly developing league like MLS, and a desire for more Americans playing abroad...Guess we'll just have to get more Americans becoming footballers!Tontodonati July 17th, 2008 01:14
Well, let's make it an all-American conference here. But what are guys talking about? Sorry, but I don't watch MLS very often.Tontodonati July 17th, 2008 01:15
By the way, do you like the way I look? No bad for an 84 year old man. Don't you think so!
