GLASGOW, Nov 9 (SW) – Celtic have added to Alex McLeish’s misery by dumping local arch-rivals Rangers out of the CIS Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win.

A stunning 30-yard right-footed effort from Scotland international Shaun Maloney broke Rangers’ deadlock after 27 minutes into the first half, and the Ibrox men really found themselves in trouble when Greek defender Kygriakos received a second yellow card after sarcastically applauding the linesman.

The second goal then appeared inevitable, and eventually came from a huge Klos error. Instead of keeping his eyes on the ball following a Nakamura cross, the goalkeeper kept focused on Bobo Balde’s run and ironically ended up deflecting the ball into his own net, to the despair of the Rangers fans.

The CIS cup campaign ending is now more than likely to add even more pressure on Rangers boss Alex McLeish, now on a five-winless-game run.
