PARIS, Jul 29 (SW) - Paris St. Germain kicked off the start of the 2005/06 Ligue 1 campaign on Friday with an emphatic 4-1 opening day victory over Metz at the Parc des Princes.

The capital city club wasted no time in getting their season off to a flying start as new signing Bonaventure Kalou scored after just five minutes, heading in a corner kick from midfielder Jérôme Rothen.

Edouard Cissé made it 2-0 when he found the net in the 38th minute after being set up by Kalou and it was 3-0 just after the restart when Rothen volleyed in a cross by man of the match Kalou.

New signing and Korean international Jung-Hwan Ahn put Metz on the board with about 20 minutes to go after coming off of the bench, but ex-Lille player Christophe Landrin, another new PSG signing, restored the three-goal advantage with ten minutes to go on the clock.

The other teams in Ligue 1 will compete in their opening matches this weekend with the highlight matches being Marseille vs. Bordeaux and Sunday's game between newly-promoted Le Mans and the club seeking to win a fifth straight title, Lyon.
